With sadness, I have to announce the closing of the award program effective May 2005. You may still view the winners of the Compassionate Healing and Religious Truths Insights Awards.
The VirusHead Seeker Award Program is intended to acknowledge the merit of those sites that offer free resources for people trying to feel and think their way through processes of religious questioning. The Compassionate Healing and the Religious Truths Insight awards are designed to reward (and collect) quality sites that are helpful to seekers and questioners, especially those who may have been damaged or confused by organized religion in any form. I am a proponent of insightful faith, rather than "blind faith." Why? Most importantly, because the kind of faith or religious outlook that grows through doubts and questioning is a more mature and wiser and more compassionate one than the outlook that refuses to work through legitimate problems that arise when we use our minds and hearts. I also have in mind the long terrible human history of what has happened, and what still may happen, when unquestioned religious authority, like any great power, is put into human hands. The difference between faith and fanaticism must always be remembered. I do not have to agree with your tradition or methods or training for you to qualify for these awards. However, your site does have to meet content qualifications specific to each award. Please be sure to read all the pages on the menu at the right before applying. Both applications and nominations are accepted.
