Death and Hope
The Tsunami is a major natural disaster and the death toll is rising.
It doesn’t yet approach the death figures of Iraqi civilians, however, which Americans have yet to mourn or take responsibility for.
And my hero Susan Sontag has died of leukemia. Another major light fades.

And one year ago today, my father died at the age of 68.
I play “Moonlight Sonata” in honor of the dead.
I send prayers of hope to the living.
I pray for us to awaken from our long slumber.
