I'm on a lot of newsletter lists for advocacy groups! Most of the places that have a website or a blog also have a newsletter, and those often includes ways to take action. Signing online petitions, email tools to contact your reps in congress or top decision-makers in other places, prewritten emails that you can edit to your heart's delight or simply send off, etc.

Since I don't have a lot of money, this is one way I can contribute to the causes I believe in - while we can all still do so at least.
