Atkinson - Lumping Christianity together with what? You mean lumping all Christians together? Not at all. There are extremists in every religion, including most branches of Christianity. I think they miss the Christian message when they scapegoat others, when they support unethical actions, and when they are lacking in the very qualities that they claim to represent.

Most Judeo-Christian sects have been racist to some degree or other. A quick tour through history will show that to be the case. But they aren't alone. Anyone who strongly believes that their group is the "best" is always prejudiced (to some degree) toward others who are not members of that group. That's part of how you define a group - us vs them.

Criticism is not prejudice. While I still have freedom of expression I may decry or praise anything I please regardless of any grouping of identity.

I've been thinking a lot about the nature of prejudice as a general phenomena and also as a method of manipulation. Look for a blog post on it soon.

Interesting screed, until the last predictable paragraph, a blatant attempt at lumping Christianity (the predominant religious force in America).

In point of fact, this country, and modern Christianity itself here in America, is the most tolerant and accepting religion ever to grace the planet. I think JW's are off their rockers. But I don't blame a Methodist or a evangelical Christian for their (JW's) bizarre beliefs regarding black people.

That would be called 'prejudice'----an evil word in today's PC lexicon.

I really think it is time for someone green or blue to show up. I rather liked the character is Farscape, the female who lived on light and, to me, was the most rational and intelligent of them all. She was compassionate, understanding, reasonable and beautiful. I am giving serious consideration to dying my skin blue in her honor as well as to complicate this stupid-human-creature assinine picture of prejudice. Might liven things up some...at least, would colour them up, lol.
