The blackouts in the Los Angeles area took my host’s network off-line for several hours on Monday afternoon. My work site and email were down too.
You mean to say that our electrical network is so poorly planned that a couple of workers could accidently take down much of LA for hours just by cutting a cable?
The internet is reliant on its hardware, which is in turn reliant upon electricity. When my work website and email were down, we lost business. It was a huge deal to us.
The first thing they said was “it wasn’t terrorisim.” That statement fails to comfort me. In these times of of greed, incompetence, crony capitalism and distancing from reality, the terrorists have become almost superfluous in America.
