Yikes

I just looked at this blog in Internet Explorer! Nobody told me that the layout breaks in IE.

I have been using Firefox, and it looks fine, but in IE - eek, yikes!

I will try to find out how to fix this. Suggestions are welcome.

Hi , I looked at it side by side in Firefox and IE, there is a little contrst difference, but you really have to look hard at it to see it, otherwise, it looks fine… What version of IE do you have?

In my IE 6.0.28 something or other (at 1024 screen) the side column moves all the way down past the past post and the purple lined section moves over the right about a quarter inch and aligns top vertical with the top graphic. You can see it going past the top graphic horizonally at the top. Ick.

It’s not too bad tho, something similar happens to my sidebar in IE as well and it’s the only web browser we use at work. I guess they aren’t encouraging us to check out blogs anyway though.

The site looks just fine in the fancy new IE7 beta preview (what a name..!) thing, so my suggestions is don’t worry too much about it.

However, if you really want to fix it, you need to create a css file especially for IE6, and use conditional comments, so it’s only loaded when someone is using IE6.

I’m thinking about updating the design in the next couple of weeks anyway. I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.01 and it seems time for a change. I’ll start from a theme that is cross-compatible. Thanks for the tip Zhayena!

Thanks for checking it out Troy, and for the sympathy Tara.

The only time I’ve had this problem before is when I had content that didn’t quite fit in the main column. That might be what happened this time too. I’ll play with it some more when i do the new design. I’m thinking something lighter - to help bring in the spring.

It is partly IE but part of it on mine was having the “post” section too wide and the sidebars narrow.

My friend had the same thing and it was solved by showing less posts per page. ??

It’s always the same thing. Almost everyone except you can see it fine.

A friend of a friend fixed mine but it really took some tweaking.

Your not alone. I hear different versions of the same complaint all over the place.
