Just the opposite - they will usually fight pretty hard for custody. Were you married? I'm guessing that he might not actually in good standing. I'm not sure how he really could be, unless he's a very recent convert. You would be justified in taking him to court for non-compliance with the support order. You would also be justified in reporting his behavior (calmly) to the elders at his congregation. I am sure that it is a long story, but nonetheless he is responsible for helping to support his child. I am sorry that things have turned out this way - for you, and especially for your daughter.
