I was so glad to read about your experience with the birds. Makes me feel a little less "unusual" for a having a cat who loves to listen to jazz. :)

BTW, the anti-spam word at the moment is a very cat-like "mraow."

Thanks Mary. How is it that although we've known each other since we were three years old, you don't yet know that I am a writer? Tee-hee.

Isn't it great to see the kids racing around outside? It's such a joyful, hopeful time of year.

Enjoy the cupcake, hon! Mmmmm, sounds yummy.

Heidi, you should be a writer. Your words take me away - actually felt as though I was sitting with you watching the birds. Beautiful. I was sitting in my backyard today (my youngest had his 13th birthday party) there were only about 4 adults in the back and about 4 sparrows came to the bird feeder, flitted away, then came back. It was cute, the chipmunks running around catching what the birds dropped, made me think of Snow White too! All we needed was a deer to come walking thru! Then the kids starting throwing water ballons! That ended that peaceful moment!!! LOL but that sound too, kids laughing, running, enjoying themselves. Like we used to, just being a kid. Leaving cares behind, not worrying about anything. Kids don't get to do that too much, they are stressed and run from one class to another, soccer games, baseball, gymnastics, art, etc. So now, the kids are leaving, the rush of the party is over, time to relax. I may even eat a cupcake! I will diet again tomorrow! : )

Very true. The little things can make the frustrating things in life bearable.

Terrestrial radio is a wheel of the same thing over and over again (thank you so much, ClearChannel) and I just can't take it anymore.

I saw Tori Amos many years ago. She can sure bang the piano :)

Frank - Not _know_ about her? Well, I'm not exactly a kid anymore, but that re-e-eally makes me feel old.

Music is one of the things that I have always found a way to enjoy, no matter what. I've borrowed music from the library (they have films too). I still have boxes of albums, although my turntable needs an amp. Hey, I still sing along with Danny Kaye sometimes. I have an old 78 with "Inchworm" on it.

Don't panic, Jolly Roger. For listening or dancing, it's a completely different standard than for singing.

I like Tori Amos and Kate Bush about the best for signing along to more contemporary music.

I'd love the punk station too. I only wish I had Sirius. I don't even have cable/sat tv. I got a Ph.D - in the humanities - two years ago - and I haven't found a full-time job. I wouldn't even have a car if my brother hadn't donated it to me instead of using it for a charity write-off. The car radio/cd fades in and out because of some faulty wire somewhere. I can be driving along, belting out something or other and suddenly it dies and the road construction guys really look at me funny. It's happened while I was singing songs from "Hair" and another time I was really into "American Idiot." Heh-heh.

Still, little things bring happiness... even if there aren't any little birds singing along.
