I’ve been meme-challenged by Lord Matt to make improvements to the blog. Thanks – I needed the push. The mention was nice of you, too.
I have been using a customized version of Sea Beast for a while now. I had a few little issues with column spacing and other details that were becoming a bit tiresome. I might have kept it even so, except that in the fall I just don’t resonate with the ethereal watery kind of space that the theme invoked for me. The light greens and blues were starting to feel like they were washing me away. Yeah, I can be overly sensitive to aesthetics (grin).
The energy boost of my recent New England trip was so powerful that I was drawn to more fiery, earthy kinds of design. This theme has a more “grounded” look to me. It evokes the energy that I prefer for autumn, and will still be cozy in the winter, too.
There is a new header image, which combines the VirusHead logo with a photo that was taken while I was in Salem.
I’ve also added a plugin (WP-dTree 3.0) for a very cool expanding archive list that shows the beginning of the title for each post. I still don’t like widgets – it’s not really that difficult to adapt the code itself – and it was nice that he gave a cut-and-paste option for those like myself. It works like a dream.
Comment with any suggestions you might have for improvement. I’ll still be tweaking the css a bit as I have time.
