It sounds to me like you are both talking about empirical truth, truth on the human scale within our boundaries of space and time. And I agree.

But I'm talking about brushes with capital-T Truth, the kind that is almost impossible to articulate, experience, or communicate to others because it does not depend whatsoever on human perception or human logic or human language or categories - the kind of Truth that has been sought for eons, the kind of Truth that you can point to but never possess.

I'm inclined to agree with Michael. There is no "your" truth and no "my" truth. We can, and do, talk ourselves into believing otherwise, but the hard ground of what is real doesn't ever soften up any.

Some of us will spend a lifetime seeking the truth, even if it is detrimental to what we cherish. Some of us will be satisfied with whatever pablum someone feeds us. Me, I love to know what the deal is, even if I hate the answer. It makes dealing with things a lot easier.

Truth is more certain than love. There is nothing ambiguous or subjective about it. Truth doesn't rely on appearance either.

I don't think it's complex or mysterious. Either it's true or it isn't.

Death is a truth, yes.

Thought-provoking post, thank you.

Michaels last blog post..<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/gorey/~3/371791021/2471" rel="nofollow">Nostalgic for Kalgoorlie</a>
