The infection defied the typical HIV-to-AIDS profile by apparently developing into AIDS in a matter of months, officials said.  &#8220;This case is a wake-up call,&#8221; said New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden. He said the strain is one that &#8220;is difficult or impossible to treat and which appears to progress rapidly to AIDS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Drug resistence in someone newly diagnosed has been pretty much unheard of until now. And to progress right into a dangerous clinial and immunological state of full-blown AIDS when it usually takes 7-12 years is even scarier. <\/p>\n<p>The strain, termed 3-DCR HIV, resists three of the four antiviral drug classes. The patient has shown resistance to a total of 19 drugs. He has had multiple partners since October and used meth.<\/p>\n<p>This is very very very very very very very very BAD folks. Again, VERY VERY VERY VERY bad!!! <\/p>\n<p>Get out there and buy those latex condems. Don&#8217;t have sex with strangers. Spin out that courtship longer. Get tested. Get your partner tested.
