Why not?

Well, for me it’s first a question of deception. Just two examples…

Under the guise of humanitarian aid to Africa, which looks as though it may not happen anyway, The AIDS funding was to be spent on
1) RETAIL priced drugs from American companies (aid to pharmaceutical companies) that would extend the lives of a few at the expense of the many. Bush fought on the side of the drug companies against generics.
2) Missionary workers to spread the message of abstinence, rather than any health education describing how to protect oneself and what practices are to be avoided.

How about this? The No Child Left Behind act had its funding cut (but that’s ok, since it was based on a disasterous Texas model).

How about using the murder of a pregnant women to redefine the legal start of life, using the rhetoric of protecting women and the unborn to undermine Roe vs Wade?

How about the daily doublespeak? We’re occupiers, not liberators. Turns out the torture chambers continued for a bit. The Bush team has tried like mad to weasel out of the Geneva Conventions at every turn. We have uphead – with pride – the terms of these conventions for 50 years.

For these reasons, and so many more, I am against Bush and the neo-cons. I do not feel they have the interests of all Americans as their motivation. More than this, I feel that the active destructiveness they have exhibited across a wide range of issues and concerns is a symptom of a pathology and criminality that we will see and understand mroe clearly with time – but we also have to judge in the present. We will not be able to claim that we did not know. We know. We will have known.

Bush supporters, you are on notice. You will one day have to explain yourself – to your children, to your grandchildren. If you put this administration into another term, with all the information at your disposal now, you will have no excuses.
