I have been meaning to link to this site for some time. I listen to this show on Air America – my third favorite show. Here are some recent nuggets from this blog. Highly recommended and I’m now adding it to my blogroll.

“Bush’s budget cuts about 300,000 working families with kids off food stamps, and cuts child care to about 300,000 poor families. At the same time, the Bush budget finds the same number of rich people to give an average new tax cut of $19,000!’ The Bush rolls back a tax provision that his dad put in place – 97% of people who will benefit from the change make over 200,000 dollars. Over half are millionaires.”

“Bush is cutting federal grants to police by 90%. From 600 million to 60 million. And he wants to cut 215 million out of federal grants to firefighters.”

“the budget would require some veterans pay a yearly fee of two hundred and fifty dollars just for the privilege of using government health care.”

“There is exactly one abortion provider left in the entire state of Mississippi – and the anti-choice zealots say they are determined to shut it down.”

And a nice couple of choice little comparisons:

In Fiscal year 2001, we had a $127 billion surplus
In Fiscal year 2004, we have a record $413 billion deficit

In January 2001, crude oil was $32.21 a barrel
In January 2005, crude oil is now $48.39 a barrel

In 2001, the minimum wage was $5.15 an hour
In 2004, the minimum wage is still $5.15 an hour

Less than a generation ago, about two thirds of large companies provided health coverage for their retirees – today, only about 36% do.

Drug prices went up three times faster than the rate of inflation in just the last year.

The Federal government is spending 84 percent less on job training programs than it did 25 years ago.. (comment: and we are facing a shortage of skilled workers)

Requests for emergency food and shelter are up dramatically in America’s cities.
