Quick favor – nominate the McCabe family please
If you’re on Facebook, please take a second and leave a comment to nominate the McCabe family for an Extreme Home Makeover.
I went to high school with Ann Marie McCabe. She has a very generous and caring spirit. Back in drama club days, she was able to get others energized and organized. She managed to be both no-nonsense and cheerful – even peppy. And she was loads of fun too. How many girls then would join in on a fully-costumed performance of Steve Martin’s “King Tut” in High School? More importantly, how many girls would be *asked? The answer is two – her and Brenda (hi Brenda!).
Ann Marie’s daughter Caitlyn has XP. Xeroderma pigmentosum is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder of DNA repair in which the ability to repair damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) light is deficient. In extreme cases all exposure to sunlight must be forbidden, no matter how small.
In addition, she cares for her grandfather, who has Parkinson’s disease, at home.
Ann Marie works hard – and in a care setting! She’s not any kind of freeloader. She gives of herself every single day. If she ever feels sorry for herself, I would be astounded if she ever showed it. She’s always been grounded, and I’m very proud of the woman that she has become.
The kind of home modifications that the show could offer them are outside her reach and it would make a huge difference for them to win this nomination. Please comment here to nominate my dear friend.
Thanks so muchly!
