Fallujah for Real
1.The US controls only the streets in Fallujah that the Mujahideen are allowing them to control as part of their overall battle plan.
2.This is a bloody and unnecessary conflict. Horrific deaths and injuries are being suffered on both sides for America’s theft of Iraqi oil and its misguided vision of controlling the balance of power and resources in the Middle East.
3.This latest assault by America is obviously just the beginning of the next four Bush years. In the past year alone, America has managed to multiply this conflict tenfold. If the intended effect was to quell the uprising and “win hearts and mindsâ€, it has failed miserably as the resistance to America’s grab for the Middle East is growing at lightening speed.
Also, this from the man that was ridiculed for claiming in his book that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – William Rivers Pitt, vindicated and with more to say – on Fallujah.

What? You don’t think that we’re going to find all those tons of weapons that are somewhere “north, south, east, or west” of Baghdad, according to Donald Rusmfeld?
None of the rightwing talk show hosts I called could tell me why satellite imagery was sophisticated enough to read the license plate of a truck from space, but not sophisticated enough to discover the “hundreds of thousands of tons” of weapons that Iraq supposedly had.
“Oh, we’re gonna find ’em, and then you’re gonna look stooooopid!” as one nutjob told me. (And this was *after* the Kaye report.)
Anyway . . . .
