Scanner Darkly, Reading, Hubby Blog, Pondlife

We went to see “A Scanner Darkly” last night, since Ben had an unexpected sleepover with a neighborhood buddy. I liked the fascinating graphic effects and the chill, yet weirdly comical, mood. I couldn’t have guessed where it was going, and I won’t spoil it for you – I’ll just say that I haven’t yet seen the synopsis that accurately described the movie. I love Philip K. Dick. As usual, Keanu Reeves was the weak point of the film. I…

Theoryheads and Postmodernism

Theoryheads and Postmodernism

I’ve added a new page – “About VirusHead.” There is a short explanation of why the blog is named VirusHead. There is also a long rambling section about theoryheads and postmodernism (only for the intensely curious). I’ve also added a page dedicated to Jehovah’s Witnesses issues, news and resources. On Fox News Sunday, Hoekstra said that a whistleblower came to him with several more spying operations that were in danger of being abused without oversight. Wait… several more?? Hoekstra: …this is actually a case where the whistleblower process was working appropriately. Some people within the intelligence community…

Inconvenient Truth Widget

I guess they don’t count my own pledge. They didn’t have this widget for bloggers then. I still haven’t seen the movie. Still working on the babysitting situation… I’ve added it to my sidebar for a bit. It’s strange that the javascript will work in the sidebar but not in a post.

American Understanding Dawning

American Understanding Dawning

We are an optimistic nation, a hopeful nation. Whatever our politics, we hope that our political and corporate leaders value our lives. This is a wonderful thing about America. But it does leave us somewhat open to manipulation, deceit, and betrayal. I think this Administration is disastrous to us in ways that are have been sufficiently transparent for some time but that many people don’t want to see or believe. Fellow Americans, I do believe that more of us are…
