What’s really interesting about this is that my views haven’t really changed very much in the last 15 years. At that time, they were considered centrist. That the whole country has slid into the fascist/totalitaritan zone doesn’t automatically made me a socialist. I’m a democratic capitalist who understands that the human corruption and greed are part of every system, and there should be checks and balances in order to work for justice (to promote domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty…). Life has to be the priority over profit. There is still plenty of profit to be made without outright exploitation and death-oriented behaviors by governments and corporations.
