Spray-on Viruses

Spray-on Viruses

The FDA has approved a spray-on cocktail of six viruses for ready-to-eat meat (they say “meat and poultry,” but last time I checked, meat from chickens and turkeys was still meat). The purified bacteriophages are designed to eat up the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium. The bacterium can cause a serious infection called listeriosis, primarily in pregnant women, newborns and adults with weakened immune systems. In the United States, an estimated 2,500 people become seriously ill with listeriosis each year, according to…

VirusHead at MySpace

Well, I’ve been resisting this for some time, but I’ve got a few friends at MySpace so I feel as though I should join up and participate, at least in a nominal way. My blog at MySpace will just be to collect little bits of quotations. My URL http://www.myspace.com/virushead My Blog URL http://blog.myspace.com/virushead

There are sticky bits and places where coffee has been sloshed, and there are…

Vampire Bootcamp

Vampire Bootcamp

Cheers to the excellent Rob Latham for teaching a Vampire Bootcamp! I like Rob a lot, and I’m thrilled that he does this kind of thing. (Thanks to JRG for alerting me to the article.) Anyone interested in going to a similar vampire workshop in Atlanta? It’s not role-playing, so don’t expect a goth. Seriously, I can teach this too, or moderate a discussion if you prefer. Interested in the vampire as an overdetermined signifier? Want to compare vampirism and…
