Robert Detweiler Heilbrun Fellow

Robert Detweiler Heilbrun Fellow

Each fall, the Emory Emeritus College holds a formal reception to honor the year’s recipients of the Alfred B. Heilbrun Jr. Distinguished Emeritus Fellowship. After an independent committee review of applications, two fellowships are awarded to emeritus faculty in the Arts and Sciences. The reception provides the opportunity to honor the recipients’ continuing research and scholarship beyond retirement. I was very pleased to represent Emeritus Professor Robert Detweiler at the Emory Heilbrun Awards Reception on Thursday. Professor Detweiler (my original…

Not the Way to Rank at Technorati

Not the Way to Rank at Technorati

I noticed that my reputation points had gone up at Technorati, so I took a quick look to see why there was suddenly a little bit of a surge in sites linking to me. I laughed out loud. Evidently, you can’t use the word “impotence” anymore. My blog post “Bush Loyalists Admit Impotence” got picked up by a bunch of junk sites. You can imagine.

Tori Amos Rocked the Fox

I’ve had the Tori Amos tickets since about an hour after they went on sale. Tori Amos and Kate Bush are my all-time favorites. They’ve known about the potential problems of a rapidly-expanding state (and city) population for some time. Instead of planning and accountability, we get prayers. They’ve made noises about it being interdenominational, but here that probably means…

Hubby Released

Hubby Released

Ok, I’ve been on pins and needles all night (and freaking out a bit), but my hubby finally has been released from detention at the Atlanta airport. It turns out that the only thing he shared with the person they were looking for is his very common name. The guy didn’t have the same birthday. He wasn’t even an American. Sigh. So now, I’ve talked him into taking the expensive cab ride home. No way is he riding the MARTA…
